Safety & Technology

SAFETY AND STERILIZATION PROTOCOLS

The health and safety or our patients and team is our highest priority. We have always prided ourselves on using the most effective disinfectants and sterilization equipment on the market. In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic University Dental Group has added more stringent protocols in non-treatment areas including hourly disinfection of all hard surfaces and mobile-friendly forms our patients can complete on their own devices. We have also changed our use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC guidelines.

DIGITAL X-RAYS

Quality oral health care is not complete without a precise dental examination that includes x-rays. Some patients are concerned with overexposure to radiation, which may explain why they are hesitant to undergo an X-ray exam for dental purposes.

Rest assured, the procedure for dental imaging is very precise and focused on only a small portion of the body, so you don’t run the risk of too much radiation.

For your peace of mind, University Dental Group uses ONLY digital X-ray technology to take snapshots of the mouth and jaw area. Digital X-rays emit 90% less radiation than analog machines and appear INSTANTLY. No more waiting for the films to develop using chemicals that may be harmful to people and the environment. The images produced by digital X-ray also have higher color contrast, so any problem areas are highlighted more, and problems can be detected earlier.

We now have the capability to take our diagnostic panoramic x-ray in 3-D. This x-ray is usually taken only every few years, and has a low radiation dosage similar to the amount of background radiation you would receive living in Orlando for 8 days.

INTRAORAL CAMERA

At University Dental Group we rely on an intraoral camera as a key imaging tool in our practice. An intraoral camera allows our expert dental team to examine your mouth and give a better diagnosis. With this technology we show our patients the inside of their mouth to have a good understanding of the treatments you need and will receive. If you would like to schedule a consultation today at our office in Orlando, call us at (407) 679-5151.

CEREC

At University Dental Group we are equipped with the latest technology to keep us at the top of our game. Patients that visit offices without the CEREC technology have to make more trips to the dental office because the restorations are done off-site in a dental lab. CEREC helps us to complete restorations in a single visit. Call our office or stop by for more information.

3D CONE BEAM SCANS

Our 3D Cone Beam Scans Imaging systems provides our practice with 3D, high definition x-rays within matter of seconds. This technology produces images that are super clear allowing us to be able to diagnose your dental needs. Unlike traditional x-rays, the Cone Beam produces a low dose of radiation, reducing the amount of exposure. Our patient’s time and satisfaction is our top priority which is why we use the 3D Cone Beam system in our office.

There are many benefits of the 3-D cone beam x-rays. We are able to diagnose fully when we can see all the details of the teeth and surrounding tissues. Many times we are able to prevent future dental emergencies by finding underlying abscesses and problems before you even feel any symptoms. We are also able to more precisely treat your dental problems when we can digitally see inside in 3D before beginning your necessary root canal, implant surgery or surgical dental extraction.
