Teeth whitening is one of the most popular dentistry procedures that we offer our patients in Orlando, and for good reason: bright white teeth are an instant sign of beauty and health. If you have found yourself holding back your smile for fear of showing off dull, stained, or yellow teeth, then you are likely a good candidate for teeth whitening.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
When you brush and floss your teeth, the surface level stains from your food or drinks are washed away. But over time, these things can cause deep, set-in stains that are impossible for a tooth brush to reach. At the very least, they can make your teeth appear dull. Teeth whitening is a process used by a cosmetic dentistry specialist to remove these deeper stains.
This process works by oxidizing the stain, which means it breaks up the tiny particles that create the stain. When these particles have been broken up, they can no longer form a stain that makes your teeth look dull or dark.
There are several ways we can provide teeth whitening treatment. We may perform all treatments in-office, or we may send you home with some teeth whitening product that you can continue to use after your initial bleaching.
Will I Get Sensitive Teeth?
It is a common question that we hear all the time: Will teeth whitening make my teeth sensitive? Some people may experience some sensitivity in the first two days after receiving the treatment, but this fades quickly. Long-term sensitivity has not been shown to be caused by tooth whitening treatments used by professional tooth whitening specialists.
