For those of you that love a tasty glass of red wine, we have some good news for you. A new study found that red wine and grape seed extract could potentially prevent cavities. The study was conducted by growing cultures of bacteria responsible for dental disease. These cultures were then dipped in different test liquids. Results of the study showed that the two most effective in getting rid of the bacteria were the red wine and the grape seed extract.
Cavities, periodontal disease, and tooth loss affects an estimated 60 to 90% of the global population. The problems start when difficult-to-kill bacteria form plaque and produce acid that start to damage teeth. Who knew?
